Salary: £8.25ph to £9.14ph
Odyssey Domiciliary Care Solutions are looking to recruit a specialist, flexible workforce to provide high quality individualised support packages for people with learning disabilities in the local community, particularly to work in Croydon and Wandsworth at present.
The emphasis of services delivered will be on supporting people's needs, wishes, dreams and preferences and will include providing a range of services that will vary from person to person, e.g. supporting people with their personal care, their medication and health care appointments, setting up and attending social events i.e. clubs, pubs, restaurants, places of worship etc.
Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of one years' experience working with vulnerable adults and be able provide one to one support to individuals with in their own homes on a daily basis in an empowering and person centred way.

Job Description
Job Title: Domiciliary Care and Support Worker
Reports to: Domiciliary Care Manager/Other Care Manager as appropriate
Overall Objectives:
To provide high quality, flexible, person-centred support, which may include practical, emotional and social support and also personal care, enabling people with learning disabilities to live fulfilling lives and reach their full potential. To work with others to support individuals to achieve the outcomes in their support plans, person centred plans and health action plans, as appropriate to each individual.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting others to:
- promote the personal autonomy of service users and to support them to develop advocacy skills in line with each individual’s overall support plan
- encourage service users to influence the development of their service to ensure that it reflects their ideas, views, opinions and wishes
- To complete, update and participate as appropriate in structured service users’ assessments, in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders, e.g. family, friends, clinicians, social workers, etc.
- write, participate in, monitor and evaluate support plans for and with people using the service and to contribute to and participate in reviews as required
- work as part of a team of “key workers” to support service users, contributing to and taking responsibility for their package of support, according to individual need
- provide support to service users as needed to enable them to participate in any agreed household tasks, appointments, duties and commitments as appropriate to each individual
- plan and participate in group and individual activities to further employment, education, leisure and social needs and interests, with an emphasis on community integration, as appropriate
- work alone on occasions, both within the service and in the community. To ensure your own personal safety by working to the organisation’s policy and procedures when working alone and reporting any changes that may affect the personal safety of yourself and others
- monitor the physical and emotional health, well being and behaviour of service users and take necessary action in emergencies or when changes require attention
- provide assistance and/or guidance where needed with personal care, e.g. taking medicines, shaving, bathing and provide more intensive personal or intimate care in circumstances where this is required
- recognise and support emotional, racial, cultural and religious needs and preferences of service users and to ensure provision reflects these
- regularly liaise with families, advocates and other relevant individuals as required, to ensure good communication and consistent service delivery are maintained
Teamwork
- To attend regular staff meetings and staff training days as required
- To work and cooperate with others as required to ensure effective communication with other support workers, families, external professionals, statutory agencies, etc. and other related parties, including regular data maintenance and report writing
- To act on own initiative and respond responsibly and effectively to the demands of a regularly changing user group
- To undertake administrative duties related to maintaining and developing the service
- To make effective use of Odyssey’s email and other I.T. systems as appropriate to the post level

Person Specification
Experience
At least one year’s recent experience of working with vulnerable people (within last 5 years) (Essential)Experience of working in community based services (Desirable)
